4th of July DIY Ideas

The 4th of July weekend is here, and for many, that means heading out of town for the beach, mountains or some other relaxing getaway. If you’ve decided to lay low at home, there are still plenty of ways to celebrate. Enjoy these tips on how to get into the spirit and enjoy the weekend.

Potluck picnic

There is no better way to celebrate on a hot summer’s day than with a picnic. Pick an area in the park or opt for a backyard bbq, and invite your friends and family. To avoid having 20 desserts, coordinate what everyone should bring.

Make your own decorations

You could buy decorations, OR bond with the kids and make your own. With a little construction paper, tissue paper and scissors you can do wonders. Need some ideas? Search Pinterest for red, white, and blue decor.

Play ball

Plan a day at the field for softball (or soccer or volleyball or kickball) with a few friends. Assign a blue team and red team with each wearing their respective colors. Grab a cooler with refreshments and food, and you and your group are ready for a day of fun.

Hit the pool

Too hot where you live? Find relief in the water. Whether it be your neighborhood pool or a nearby lake or river, a nice swim with cool you down and put you in summer mode.

Sangria

Need a cool drink for the hot day? Make sangria. Prepare it ahead of time, and make large amounts of it. You can even make the colors red, white, and blue. It’s even easy to make a non-alcoholic version for the under 21 crowd.

Check your closet for Red, White and Blue

Avoid the temptations of buying new RWB attire, and instead head to your closet. You’ll likely have pieces you can put together that you never even thought about. In the end, your 4th of July outfit could be the winner!

Whatever you decide to do to celebrate our nation’s independence, we wish you a fun-filled and safe holiday!
