Feel Good Friday: Remember and Support Our Troops

With Memorial Day taking place this upcoming Monday, it is important to remember the brave Americans who died fighting for our civil liberties. Keep reading to learn how you can support the families of those who have passed and soldiers currently serving overseas.

  1. Donate to the USO: The United Services Organizations (USO) has provided services, welfares, and other assistance to troops and their families since 1941. They have even put on live concerts for troops that are currently deployed! Visit their website to see ways that you can show your support and donate.
  2. Create a Care Package: Being deployed means that many soldiers are away and miss the basic comforts of home. With programs like Soldiers’ Angels, you can “adopt” a soldier and provide aid and friendship to them while they’re deployed. This includes sending care packages or donating money to a care package service.
  3.  Volunteer to Place Flags on Veterans’ Graves: Many people visit cemeteries and memorials to honor those who died in military service. At this time, volunteers will place an American flag on each grave in remembrance. This is an activity that the entire family can participate in and many organizations are always seeking extra volunteers. You can simply call up a local foundation to see if you can participate and help this weekend.

While TinkBird is closed on Monday in observance of the holiday, we are forever grateful for the sacrifices made by our troops. Click here to learn about more ways you can support our troops.
