National Locum Tenens Week 2018

It’s National Locum Tenens Week, and we want to thank all of the physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners who work in locum tenens roles.

Locum tenens, which is the Latin phrase for a person who temporarily fulfills the duties of another, is a way that patients can receive continuous care if a permanent provider is absent or if a practice or hospital is short staffed.

Whether you work locum tenens in a full-time or part-time capacity, your hard work helps raise the bar of healthcare in the United States by battling the physician shortage and bridging healthcare gaps in both urban and rural areas.

National Locum Tenens Week was launched last year by the National Association of Locum Tenens Organizations® (NALTO®). The honorary week occurs the second full week in August each year to recognize the essential role that locum tenens providers serve in the healthcare industry.

If you’re an existing locum tenens provider or you’d like to explore your locum tenens options for the first time, see our open positions or reach out to a healthcare recruiter at TinkBird.
