Providers with Strong Online Presence Have More Clout with Patients

When patients select a healthcare provider, a strong web presence and online tools matter.

According to a recent healthcare customer experience study by Doctor.com, nearly two-thirds of respondents would choose one provider over another because of a strong online presence, and 60% have chosen one provider over another based on a positive online reputation.

The report also showed that patients aren’t just finding doctors via the internet – 45% say they prefer to request an appointment digitally. With the growing role of consumerism in the healthcare industry, practices are also offering other tactics such as same-day appointments to attract more patients.

Patients even reported looking at online reviews after receiving a referral for a specific provider, and if there were poor reviews 60% said they would not book an appointment. These numbers back up similar findings by Healthgrades and MGMA.

Healthcare facilities and providers alike need to be proactive with their web presence and build positive patient reviews to give patients a positive first impression.
