Multi-State Nursing Licensure

Navigating state licensure requirements for registered nurses, LPNs and other nurses can be complex. Our recruiters stay up to date on the most current information for each state. Whether you’re seeking a new license or renewing an existing one, we’re ready to help you start your journey.

Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)

To expand access to quality healthcare, many states have passed laws allowing a nursing license from one state to be accepted in other states. The Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) and the more recent Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) enable travel nurses to work in many locations without the burden of obtaining individual state licenses.

If you have a “compact license” from a state that participates in the NLC, you are eligible to practice in other compact states. Applying for multi-state licensure must be done through your board of nursing.

The eNLC is for registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs). Legislation is working to make multi-state licensing more accessible for advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs). Currently, more than 40 states are part of the eNLC. The National Council of State Boards of Nursing maintains a current map of all NLC states.

As state-by-state legislation continues to evolve, our team will stay informed. We’re here to help our travel nurses navigate the opportunities to travel far and wide.
