New Report: Best States for Doctors
Physicians Practice has released its 2025 ranking of the best U.S. states for practicing medicine. Researchers averaged each state’s ranking using eight criteria:
- Cost of living
- Physician density
- Amount of state business taxes collected
- Average malpractice insurance rates
- Quality of life
- Women’s health care
- Physician happiness with pay
- Geographic Practice Cost Indices (GPCI)
The CMS’s Geographic Practice Cost Indices (GPCI) were used to break any ties.
